At the beginning of March ALTIUS PROJECTS DIVISION carried out the transport of the last 28 steel girders for the S-123 bridge of the M-8 freeway in Glasgow (UK), measuring up to 35 meters long and weighing 65 tons.
The loading operations took place at the Muelle de la Esclusa (Port of Seville) on board a coastal vessel without means and the lifting was carried out by land cranes.
The Altius Engineering Department executed the stowage of 18x beams at two heights in the hold, optimizing the available space of the vessel. On the ship’s deck, 10x beams plus a container and small items were stowed.
All steel beams, stowed in the hold, were secured using webbing and wooden “crash” blocks, and lashing chains duly anchored and secured to the cargo.
