We are proud to announce our successful execution of the complex transport of a 1,300-tonne STS Super-Post-Panamax crane. The crane, 80 meters high with boom down, 24.5 meters wide and 133 meters long, was loaded in Tarragona and unloaded in Vigo. The turnkey project included the reinforcement of the crane, marine securing, RO-RO loading and unloading with 84 SPMT axles, marine transportation on the MV Zhong Ren 121 and the engineering and supervision of all operations.
Detailed engineering ensured that the crane could safely withstand the transit conditions. The RO-RO operations, with a total load of 1,900 tons, were completed in two hours thanks to the vessel’s ballast system and efficient coordination with the SPMT operator by Altius. The crane is now at Termavi, the container terminal operated by Grupo Davila, and will be operational in the coming weeks.
